Episode 21: Christopher ‘Mad Dog’ Russo!

Fair warning: this may be my favorite episode yet.

Award-winning sports talk personality Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo joins our podcast. Doggie called in from his office in Manhattan before hosting “High Heat” on MLB Network and “Mad Dog Unleashed” on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio to chat about New Yankee Stadium versus the old House That Ruth Built. There was a specific reason why we brought up the question; it in part plays in to our 10th anniversary content around the new Stadium. But, there was also another reason, which we mentioned to Russo at the beginning of our chat.

The “Mad Dog” also chatted about some of his favorite ballparks in baseball and MLB allowing him creative freedom for his daily program.

You can catch that program, “High Heat With Christopher Russo” weekdays at 1 pm EST. “Mad Dog Unleashed” airs weekdays at 3 pm EST on SiriusXM.

Episode 20: Mark Lobel On The Lobel’s USDA Prime Steak Sandwich

Can you believe New Yankee Stadium opened 10 years ago? We’ll be looking back on the new Stadium throughout the course of this season. For starters, the ballpark ushered in a new era of Stadium food (#YankeeStadiYUM). And when you talk about the food offerings in the venue, you simply have to begin and end with the iconic Lobel’s USDA Prime Steak Sandwich.

In this episode, we speak with Mark Lobel, co-owner of Lobel’s, about the family business, the partnership with both the Yankees and Legends Hospitality, future menu offerings and much, much more.

Episode 19: StubHub Ticket Floors, ‘New York, New York’

In Episode 19 of Season 2 we first discuss the “ticket floors” that the Yankees set with StubHub – these are minimums that different tickets can be sold for. It’s good to know so that you’re not waiting for a ticket to drop to a price that it simply can’t; it’s also good to know so that you can plot the best value for your budget.

Also, we’ll talk about “New York, New York” – as in the song. I’ll give a little background on its relationship with Yankee Stadium and a surprise guest will talk about it and perhaps more specifically, the drama surrounding it last postseason.

Episode 18: Gary Sheffield Plus The Labrum Explainer

In the second episode of Season 2, we chat with Jimmy McKay, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and host of the wildly-popular PT Pintcast. With Miguel Andujar heading to the IL (no longer DL, we chat about that too) due to a torn labrum in his right shoulder, McKay breaks down not only the labrum’s function but also why these types of injuries may be more prevalent than you think among baseball players.

Then, you’ll hear from former Yankees’ outfielder Gary Sheffield. I caught up with Sheff in the Dominican Republic at the David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic.  Sheffield and I talked about facing Big Papi, The Rivalry, his transition to TV and much more.
